Lesson 6 Reflection

The book in chapter 3 ask some question about group work and if we like them. I don't like them but because I am always afraid that not everybody will do their part or that I won't get the grade that I think I should get. I like working with people to build something together or make something. I think it is a lot easier to work with someone when your grade is not affected by it. Also by working with someone you get some else part of view, that is also good for the parents of the child because they can get more than one person's thoughts on their child. It was really interesting reading about how to work with parents because some of the things that it takes about I haven't thought about before. For example, how the parent might react to founding out that their child has some kind of disability. Another thing that I learned was paraprofessionals. I haven't heard that word before, but reading about them. They sound really nice to have, specifically when a teacher ha...

Lesson 4 Reflection

This week I learned more about IEPs. IEPs stands for Individual education plan. I always remember having an IEP. Sometime I liked it other time I didn't. But this week helped me realize the important of having an IEP. The reason that I didn't like having one is because I didn't like being pulled out of the main classroom. I felt dumb that I needed to go to a different class to help me read. I like it because on some test, I could have someone read the problem to me. I really enjoyed that, I know I did better in school because of it. My IEP still helps me while I am in college. I know that some students need to have an IEP if there is any way that those students are going to succeed and finish the goals and help them reach their goals. It is with the help of all the teachers, and their parents being on the same page. As a future teachers, I have learned the benefits of having my students have an IEP if they need it.

Lesson 3 Reflection

This week was very interesting. I learned that Serbia still puts people with down syndrome in a mental institution.  It was sad to watch a  video  about this. Some 20's year old people are in a crab like this. I know that we use to do this in our country but I am so glad that we have changed. Now students with down syndrome are in classroom with people like you and me. I understand that they are different but they still need love, and care like every body else does. Also research has proven that students with disabilities it is better for them to have social contact with other people.
