Lesson 12 Reflection

This week had a lot to do with test, but most importantly how to accommodate test for students. I really like all the ideas that this chapter had about it. It talked about things to do before, during, and after. I feel like teachers need to be able to think of different ways to  test their students because a lot of students hate the idea of taking a written test that they have to answer the question. Teachers need to remember that sometimes the best way to test students is in an inform setting. That is where some student feel the most comfortable and are more likely to give you an honest results on their knowledge.   You will get different reactions to test,   and it is the teacher that need to accommodate to those needs and reaction. This week I did the simulation of the eye patch. It was harder than I thought it was going to be. I typically forget that my left eye is weaker than my right. So when I put the eye patch on my right eye it was difficult to read ...

Lesson 11 Reflection

This week was really interested, it was about how to have students learn independently. My mom was my seminary teacher, and she would tell the class that we needed to learn and found things for ourselves in the scriptures. That can be applied to learning in regular schools, students need to be able to learn for themselves.  The more that students learn for themselves, the more that they will be successful in the future. Learning for themselves will help them in every subject, and every aspect of their lives. I feel like some teacher give the information to the students, when the students need to found information out for themselves.     This week, I did the wheelchair simulation. It was about the same difficult that I thought. My grandma is in a wheelchair right now. She is to weak to walk around, so my grandpa lefts her up to have her go to the bathroom and to get into the car. I have always felt bad for my grandma, and my grandpa. This made me have more appreciation ...

Lesson 10 Reflection

This week I really enjoyed learning about all the different way to have our students organize their learning. Some of the different types of learning that was in the reading this week was Concept map.   This is a simple sample of a map that a student could do, and it helps them see how everything is connected. The reading also talked about graphic organizer.   This is what one might look like that you can have you students fill out. Another thing, is that as teacher, we need to be able to use what the students already know to help them learn and understand what new thing we are trying to teach them. Also keep in mind where your students are coming from.

Lesson 9 Reflection

Since I lived through having an IEP, it is hard to image my school life without. It didn't reflect how I was treated but I know that it helped me a lot. If I didn’t have it, I know that schools would have been a lot harder for me. Reading chapter eight really made me appropriate having an IEP and parents that always made sure that I got the help that I needed. I wonder if the kids that don't meet the requirements for special education have parents that help them at home. I know for me that helped, my parents always had me push myself and learn. I never used my IEP as a crutch because that is how I was raised.        I feel like the government tries to found ways to help the students that are struggling which is a great think. But what about the students that are gifted and talented. Sometimes the hints that the government comes out with buts a stop to the growth of gifted and talented. I understand that it s hard to focus on both groups, but when you come out wi...

Lesson 5 Reflection

This lesson had a lot of good information. I really enjoyed reading about the ways to tell if a student has a disability. Every teacher should know that specially since the number of students with disabilities has seemed to increase. While at least we can be able to tell a lot easier if a student has disabilities. Also, the sooner that the disability is caught, the better it is for the student because they can get the help that they need sooner. The sooner that a student gets help, the more that they can be able to know what they have and be able to hopefully control it in the future. Another reason why the disability needs to be notice is because the sooner that the student gets help with the disability the more successful that they can be in school. This is because they can start getting on an IEP and if they need to get on the medication that they need to be able to help them to conquer this disability and move forward in their life. That is the whole goal of education is for ...

Lesson 7 Reflection

This week was about assessment. I really enjoyed how the reading talked about all the different kinds of assessments. Sometimes I mean like us as teacher forget that there are more than just the formal standard ways of assessing. We need to assess the students learning in more different ways. A big reason more just other ways of testing is because some students of test anxiety which will cause them to close up and do really bad on the test when that students really do know the information that you are testing them on. Also, another reason is that they might not comprehend what they are reading or just don't understand the language that the test is in. I know for me on some test, I had someone read the test to me because I had a hard time comprehend things that I read. That is the only way that I could get through school. I had it mostly in elementary school but I still enjoyed, and I saw a difference on my test scores when I tried taking a test without someone reading me the quest...
